An intimate, Quiet English Wedding

Fran contacted me this winter - telling me she was looking for a photographer to shoot her small and intimate wedding in Cornwall UK.

Fran was absolutely lovely - and I got to meet her daughter as well! I was so excited to be a part of their special day.

Wedding days are always so special to be a part of - but it really made it even more precious that there was less than 6 people in the wedding registry (one of them being me!) Talk about intimate!

That being said, I loved the thought of just having the MOST important people in your life at your day. No friends of friends - no random Aunt that you haven’t spoken to in ages. Just the most precious people.

I was so grateful to be a part of it.

“We’re so grateful to have these memories forever and would recommend her to absolutely anyone looking for someone talented, genuine and amazing at what they do.” - Fran’s google review

We started the morning at her family’s cottage - a beautiful house with a backyard garden.

After Fran and Marshall got ready - they had drinks and bubbly with her bridesmaids and let the day sink in.

I started taking flatlay photos as soon as I came in - brought some supplies with me (white lace, cream silk and some textured ribbons - if I needed to use them in the flatlay)

Fran provided me with a box of items - and I used these to stage these stunning flatlay photos (making sure to highlight all the fine details).

Following the getting ready - we travelled to the wedding registry. A small stone building with English charm. A large tree shaded most of the back garden, and the heritage building was the perfect place for an intimate ceremony.

THEY’RE MARRIED! AHHH - a mini celebration with their family before seeing the guests.

We took a moment to wander around on the back garden area to let them really take in the moment with each other and their daughter. I think this is the most precious moment following the marriage - getting to really take in what is happening.

I thought this would be the most special time to capture intimate photos of the two of them. Just taking in all their accomplishment and the next chapter that awaits for them.

After this intimate moment - we drove back to the house to celebrate in the garden with her guests and family.

Meanwhile - I am shooting on camcorder, 35mm film and digital! Talk about multitasking.

I find my film works best with stand still photos, the shutter doesn’t work well with motion.

Here are some of my fav film photos:

Pimm's Spritz and Nibbles in the Garden - There's nothing better.

What a day! Over 8 hours of coverage, and so many beautiful images that I just can’t get enough of.

What a beautiful send off for the start of my photography career in Cornwall - looking forward to summer at home in Okanagan, BC Canada!

Thank you again to the beautiful Fran and Marshall for having me! What a beautiful, simple love!

xx - Izannah
