Tin Poppy - An Intimate forest Wedding Experience in the Shuswap

The Story

Some wedding venues are designed for grand celebrations. Others are designed for connection.

Nestled on 160 acres of forested mountainside in British Columbia's Shuswap region, Tin Poppy Retreat offers couples a wedding experience that feels intentional, immersive, and deeply connected to nature. What began as an off-grid retreat has evolved into one of the region's most unique destination for elopements and micro weddings.

Surrounded by private forest trails, mountain views, wood-fired saunas, and thoughtfully designed cabins, Tin Poppy invites couples to slow down and focus on what truly matters: celebrating their love alongside the people closest to them.

Rather than creating a traditional wedding venue, Tin Poppy has curated an experience where accommodation, celebration, and nature seamlessly blend together.

  • On-site accommodations for guests

Why Tin Poppy Retreat Stands Out

British Columbia has no shortage of beautiful wedding venues, but few offer the combination of wilderness, design, and intentional hospitality that Tin Poppy provides.

The venue's off-grid philosophy creates an experience that feels both luxurious and grounded. Guests can spend the weekend hiking private trails, relaxing in wood-fired saunas, gathering around communal spaces, and celebrating beneath the stars.

Emerald Hall adds another layer of character. With its unique aesthetic, warm atmosphere, and natural surroundings, it offers a reception space unlike anything found in a traditional ballroom.

Rather than simply hosting weddings, Tin Poppy creates immersive wedding weekends that become unforgettable experiences for everyone involved.

What Couples Fit This Venue Best?

“The relaxed atmosphere. We specialize in intimate weddings and elopements, so couples often tell us how private, magical, and stress-free the experience feels. Tin Poppy is tucked away in the Larch Hills at the end of a winding forest road, so it feels like stepping into another world. Couples get to celebrate surrounded by nature and the people who matter most.”

What makes Tin Poppy stand out?

“The land itself. Our venue spans 160 acres with an incredible variety of landscapes, from dry Ponderosa pine ridges and sweeping valley views to cedar-hemlock forests, ponds, wetlands, and open meadows. The scenery changes dramatically as you move through the property, offering countless beautiful locations for ceremonies and photographs. Combined with our unique onsite accommodations, it creates a wedding experience that feels immersive, private, and deeply connected to nature.”

Overall Thoughts

Tin Poppy Retreat offers something that can be difficult to find in today's wedding industry: genuine privacy, natural beauty, and a sense of calm. Tucked away in the forests of the Larch Hills, it feels less like a traditional wedding venue and more like a peaceful escape where couples can slow down and focus on what matters most. I love the idea of Having Only your closest friends and family to witness your love and celebration.

For those dreaming of a wedding surrounded by nature, Tin Poppy Retreat is a hidden gem in the Shuswap that is well worth exploring.
